Lawnrite FeedsWe use the finest professional turf fertilizers to nourish your lawn. These feeds are not available domestically and are designed to release nutrients to the root zone slowly over a number of weeks.
We use a professionally calibrated machine to make sure we put the right amount of feed into the lawn for the prevailing season. We have organic feeds available - just ask |
Weed ControlWe use professional herbicides which we are qualified to apply to control the weeds in your lawn. We may need to use different herbicides for different weeds but that is all included in the cost of the treatment.
Some weeds are more established then others and, depending on the type or density of the growth. it may take several treatments to deal with all the weeds. The battle with weeds never ends as seeds can fall and germinate. Our programme is designed to prevent new weeds getting established but its important to keep up with the treatments to keep the weeds to a minimum. The herbicides we use work as the are absorbed into the weeds and kill them as they grow, that's why, without being asked, if you are a new lawn care customer, we will come back around two weeks after the first treatment to spot treat any weds that have germinated in the interim, |
Over Seeding & Top DressingWhy does my lawn need a seed over-sow?
Over-seeding is the process of applying new seed to an already existing stand of grass. It can be carried out on small worn areas or across the whole lawn surface. Over sowing seed is an ideal way to produce a thick healthy lawn that looks good the whole year through. Our special seed blends are coated to help germination and our calibrated machinery means the right amount of seed is laid evenly across the lawn. When is the best time to over-seed? Over-sowing of new grass seed ideally either side of summer in spring or autumn time. Seed should not be sown during a heat wave (unless irrigation is possible) or in frosty conditions. Any seed sown during the warmer months or dry periods will need to be regularly watered. Over-seeding is carried out for the following reasons
Using seed is far more cost effective then laying new turf but like new turf needs some tender love and care from the home owner. |

Scarification
Why does my lawn need scarifying? A lawn that has developed a large amount of thatch or moss needs to be scarified to remove as much of this material as possible allowing the grass space to grow. Scarifying should be carried out on a regular basis. When there is a build-up of thatch in the lawn it will most probably have moss. This is because moss loves a moisture rich environment. Since thatch traps moisture and prevents it from getting through to the soil, scarification removes this thatch which is one of the main causes of moss in lawns. Having the thatch removed encourages new grass growth. What does Scarification do?

Aeration
Why does my lawn need Aerating? Aerating (or hollow-tine spiking) lawns allows better movement of air and water in the root zone. A well-aerated lawn will cope better in periods of drought and will reduce the likelihood of waterlogging. Heavier clay soil profiles, or areas that experience most wear and traffic are prone to compaction and will benefit most from regular aeration. What does Aeration do?

Hydration / Drought Defense
We are able to apply a professional wetting agent which is designed to help with the management of water in lawns. It has been developed to help solve the two main water related problems facing the domestic and commercial lawns today - the lack and cost of suitable irrigation water (think water meters) and Dry Patch.
The treatment helps water get to where it needs to be deep into the root zone – because it works so efficiently the amount of irrigation needed is reduced and the plant is better able to cope with dry periods.
Please note that this treatment is not a substitute for watering the lawn. The plant still needs water; this treatment improves the efficiency of how that water is used. The treatment needs to be watered in immediately after application. The pictures below are indicative of how the profile of the soil hold more water after the treatment. We offer both a spray and granular wetting agent, the latter provides a longer effective period of up to three months.
